Sudbury, ONT: The Newfoundland Rogues dropped their second straight game against the Sudbury Five in a 122-113 loss on Monday. The Rogues’ record against Basketball Super League (BSL) opponents falls to 6-10 this season while the Five remain at the top of the BSL with a record of 15-5.
As it is Family Day in Ontario, The Five hosted the Rogues in a special Monday afternoon time slot. The two teams traded the lead many times throughout the opening two frames before the Rogues saw their scoring slump in the third quarter. A fourth quarter rally just wasn’t enough for an away side whose season record against the Five now stands at 1-3. Kevin Bridgewaters (G) led the Rogues in scoring with 24 points while the Five relied on Charlie Marquardt’s (G) incredible three-point shooting (7-9) and BSL MVP candidate Ja’Myrin Jackson (G).
The Rogues remain on the road in desperate need of a win. They’ll cross the border for a pivotal matchup against the Pontiac Pharaohs on Thursday, February 20th. Tip-Off at 8:30 NST.
