Kitchener, ONT: The Newfoundland Rogues dropped their fifth straight losing 105-102 against the KW Titans on Saturday. This loss wraps up a dismal 0-5 February road trip for the Rogues who still occupy seventh place just outside the Basketball Super League playoffs.
The third placed Titans traded the lead with the visiting Rogues all throughout an intense contest. A last second foul gave Eric Boone the chance to end the at the free throw line; ultimately a miss and a make led to the Rogues first overtime period of the season. Antoine Mason (G) played hero for the Titans with an incredible three-pointer late in OT which ended up being the dagger for the Rogues. Jakorie Smith (Rogues, F) and Sam Akano (Titans, G) led scoring with 20 and 23 points for their respective sides with Eric Boone (G), Jaquan Lightfoot (F) and Sam Akano (G) picking up double-doubles on the night.
The Rogues will now pack up and head back to the island for a six-game home stand. Next series begins on February 27th against the TBL’s Rochester Kingz. Tip-Off at 7:00PM.
