St. John’s, NL: The Newfoundland Rogues picked up another home victory, winning 106-95 against the Tri-City Tide on Friday night. This is the fourth win in a row for Coach Reece Gaines’ Rogues side who remain unbeaten since returning home.
Friday’s game was the first in Tri-City Tide history. The travelling Tide from New Brunswick came out of the gates hot and held the lead over the more experienced Rogues for portions of the first quarter before ultimately succumbing to the home side . Fighting right up until the very end, the Tide certainly did not look like a team playing their first game in franchise history and kept the Rogues on their toes. Rogues Center Anthony Lefeau picked up his first double-double in a Rogues uniform (18 pts, 10 reb) while Tide guard Kyler Haynes led all scorers with 29 points.
The Rogues will do battle against the Tide once again tomorrow night where one lucky fan will have a chance to take a halftime shot for a Nissan Kicks. Tip-Off at the Mary Brown’s Centre is scheduled for 7:00PM.
