Sudbury, ONT: The Newfoundland Rogues started their second road trip of the season with a 123-122 loss against the Sudbury Five on Friday. With the loss, the Rogues drop to 7th in the Basketball Super League (BSL) standings and fall out of a playoff spot for the first time this season. The Five remain at the top of the BSL after winning at home.
In a high scoring Valentines Day battle; the Rogues made a season-high 21 three pointers letting it fly with ease at the Sudbury Community Arena. The two teams traded the lead all throughout the 4th quarter until Kevin Bridgewaters (G) missed a key free throw with 10 seconds left giving Sudbury possession with the narrowest of leads. Dedric Boyd (G) set a new season high with 32 points for the Rogues while the Five were led by JD Miller’s 26 points and 15 rebounds. Other notable performers from the Rogues include Tarkus Ferguson (F), Eric Boone (G), and Graddy Kanku (F).
The Rogues will have a few days to plot revenge as these two teams play in Sudbury once again on Monday. Tip-Off at 3:30 NST.
