Rogues suffer first home defeat vs Five

St. John’s, NL: The Newfoundland Rogues were handed their first home defeat of the Basketball Super League (BSL) season against the Sudbury Five on Saturday. A final score of 114-103 sees the Rogues fall to 6-2 on the season.

The Rogues fought until the bitter end but ultimately came up short. This was the second game in as many nights between the two sides splitting the two-game series 1-1. Rogues star Amanze Ngumezi (C) missed out due to a one-suspension stemming from the brawl at the end of Friday’s game. Zaahir Woody, Dedric Boyd and Rashad Smith led the Rogues in scoring with 26,25 and 24 points respectively. The Five saw a game-high 32 point performance from early BSL MVP frontrunner Ja’Myrin Jackson

The Rogues will enter a short break before returning to the Mary Brown’s Centre to take on the TBL’s Rhode Island Kraken. The two-game series starts on December 28th. 7:00PM Tip Off.
