St. John’s, NL: The Newfoundland Rogues picked up another win over the Rhode Island Kraken 120-102 on Sunday. With the win, the Rogues sweep their season-series against the Kraken and improve to a record of 8-2.
Sunday’s game proved to be very similar to Saturday’s matchup between these two sides as the Kraken kept up with the Rogues pace of play in the first two quarters. Much like Saturday however, the Rogues started pulling away in the third and didn’t look back. Dedric Boyd (G) and Rashad Smith (G) led the Rogues scoring charts with 23 and 18 points respectively. For the Kraken, St. John’s own Noel Moffatt (G/F) had an incredible performance securing the first double-double by a Newfoundlander in Basketball Super League history (19 points, 11 rebounds)
The Rogues will have little time to rest as they ring in the new year with a two-game home series against bitter rivals the London Lightning. For many fans, this is the most highly anticipated series in Rogues history. The Rogues will tip-off the series against the Lightning on Friday, January 3rd 7PM Tip-Off.
