St. John’s, NL: The Newfoundland Rogues completed their sweep against the Tri-City Tide 128-82 on Sunday afternoon. Head Coach Reece Gaines’ side have now won six in a row at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
After a defensive first quarter that saw both teams combine for only 31 points, the floodgates opened with the Rogues scoring 31 or more in each of the remaining quarters. The Rogues saw a star-making performance from number three David Jasson (G) pouring in 46 points and grabbing 14 boards. Jasson becomes just the third Rogue in franchise history to hit eight threes in a game, also setting the record for the most points in a regular season game by a Rogue. The Rogues also saw the debut of their newest number six Brandon Daughtry (G). Daughtry contributed well at both ends of the floor collecting four steals and scoring 20 points. Three Rogues were held out of the contest due to injury management (#0 Kevin Bridgewaters, #10 Dedric Boyd, #4 Graddy Kanku).
The Rogues have less than a week to rest up before setting sail on their biggest road trip of the season. The five-game road trip starts in Sudbury on March 15th. Tip-Off is at 3:30 NST on BSLTV
