All Star Chaney Leads Rogues Over Distillers, Team Headed to Sheshatshiu

ST. JOHN’S, NLThe Newfoundland Rogues picked up a pair of statement wins on Friday and Saturday night, defeating Louisville, Kentucky’s Derby City Distillers 111-94, and 124-96.

On Friday, Armani Chaney set the tone early, scoring 17 of his 32 points in the first quarter. Deandre McIntyre had a season high 19 points for the Rogues as well. Alonzo Murphy led the charge for the Distillers with 22 points and 5 rebounds.

On Saturday, Chaney poured in 24 points and was honoured with the franchise’s first ever all star selection. He’ll head to the TBL All Star Weekend in Pennsylvania, April 7th and 8th. Brandon Johnson was the high scorer with 30 points, while DeAndre McIntyre registered a triple double with 11 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds. Derby City was led by Lawrence Combs with 21 points.

Rogues Travel to Sheshatshiu

When not dunking basketballs, the Rogues are usually found visiting with local schools and community groups, bringing a message of teamwork, perseverance, determination and inclusion. This week, Coach Jerry Williams will be taking a contingent of Rogues to Sheshatshiu to meet the community’s first ever school basketball team – the Eagles.
Ron Artest III, Isaiah Hill and Tyrone Young will join Coach Williams in hosting a basketball camp, April 5th and 6th. This will be the Rogues first visit to Labrador.
