Rogues Douse Firebirds, Face Soul in Round 2

ST. JOHN’S, NL – In a back and forth game that saw plenty of lead changes, the Rogues were down by one with four minutes left when Marquise Collins crashed towards the net, scoring and drawing a foul. His free throw put Newfoundland up by two over the Raleigh Firebirds – a lead they never relinquished.
When the buzzer sounded, the Rogues celebrated a 122-110 win on Raleigh’s home court. Led by Armani Chaney’s triple double with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, Collins also came up huge with 24 points – many crucial baskets in the waning minutes. Jacorie Archie added to a balanced Rogues attack with 22 points, including 6 of 13 from 3 point land.
Six Firebirds scored in double-figures, led by Ahmad Abdullah’s 32 points.
The Rogues move on to face the Georgia Soul, who beat the Coastal Georgia Buccaneers 135 – 128 in overtime. As the top team in the Southeast division, Georgia will host the Rogues in a best of three series on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary).

The Rogues welcomed back Tyrone Young from injury for Tuesday night’s game. Brandon Johnson and Ron Artest III continue to rehabilitate their injuries.
