St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland Rogues lost 106-96 to the Sudbury Five on Friday night at the Mary Browns Centre. Despite a close effort from the home side, the defending Basketball Super League champs proved too much for the Rogues who suffered their third straight loss to start the season.
The Five led by 23 at half, stunning fans at the Mary Brown’s Centre. The Rogues came back with a vengeance to win the third quarter 36-20 before ultimately coming up just 10 points short in the end. Rogues star Dedric Boyd (G) once again led all scorers with another 29 point clinic while the Five were led by standout performances from returning all-star guard Charlie Marquardt and towering Russian center Alex Kotov.
The Rogues will have to dust themselves off and get back up quickly as they face the Five again at home on Valentine’s Day. Tip-off at 7PM
