Rogues Fall versus Five in Overtime Thriller, Series Finale

ST. JOHN’S, NLThe Mary Brown’s Centre faithful held its collective breath while Armani Chaney’s runner bounced around the rim and time expired. As the shot spilled out, the Newfoundland Rogues and Sudbury Five prepared for overtime, tied at 115. In a game they had led by as much as 21, the Rogues’ furious offence fell just short in OT, falling to Sudbury by a final score of 131-129.

The Rogues were again led by Kenny Holmes and Armani Chaney, who scored 32 and 26 points respectively. Jacorie Archie added 26 points of his own, including 8 three pointers. The Five were led by Jeremy Harris with 34 points, whose size at 6’ 7” and left handed approach had given the smaller Rogues guards fits throughout the series.

The OT battle was the third in a series of hard fought contests. The rescheduled Thursday night game featured an offensive explosion, with the final reaching 144-137 for Sudbury. Holmes scored a remarkable 35 points by half and finished with 43, while Chaney contributed 34.

On Friday, the game was another fast-paced, run and gun affair, this time Sudbury pulled out the 131-120 win. Ron Artest III had his best performance of the season in that game, finishing with 23 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds.
