Rogues sweep Power with dramatic Boyd buzzer beater

St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland Rogues defeated the Port City Power 82-81 via a stunning last second shot at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Thursday. This victory caps off a series sweep versus the Power for the Rogues who improve to 4-4 on the TBL season.

After a slow first half, fans were treated to a showcase of action with highlight reel dunks and heated moments; all leading to a photo finish for the ages. The Rogues found themselves trailing by two points with 6 seconds left on the clock and had sent Power Center Jabari Craig to the free throw line with a chance to ice the game. After two subsequent misses, a mad scrambled ensued under the basket. Rogues star Dedric Boyd (G) managed to get a hold of the rock ultimately swishing a last ditch hail-mary three, sending the Mary Brown’s Centre into a frenzy. It was the storybook ending for Boyd who had missed a potential tying shot just seconds earlier. The Power were led in scoring by former Rogue forward Anthony Ottley Jr’s 24 point performance while Dedric Boyd led all scorers for the second night in a row with 28 points.

For the first time in weeks, the Rogues will have time to unwind before returning to action at the Mary Brown’s Centre on March 22nd to take on the top ranked Tri-City-Tide.
