Rogues win; Avoid being swept by Tide

St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland Rogues ended the undefeated run of the Tri-City Tide with a 114-103 victory at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Monday night. This win improves the Rogues record to 5-5 and sees them leapfrog the Halifax Hoopers for second place in The Basketball League’s Atlantic Canada Division.

The Rogues flew out of the gates with a hot start in front of the home crowd and didn’t let up the intensity at any point. While a strong Tide were able to keep it close, The Rogues proved to be the better side for the full 48 minutes with strong and consistent two-way play. Rogues guard Dedric Boyd led all scorers for the second night in a row with a 35 point double-double while the Tide relied heavily on (G) Kendall Latney’s 24 points after star point guard DQ Dawsey was ejected following a flagrant two foul on Anthony Lefeau (F).

The Rogues will look to take their momentum into next weekend when they play the Halifax Hoopers at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Saturday, March 28th.
