Rogues win second straight versus Hoopers

St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland Rogues defeated the Halifax Hoopers 120-103 on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre. This win sees the Rogues cement their place as the second ranked team in The Basketball League’s Atlantic Canadian division while the Hoopers remain seated in third.

Rogues Forward Leonard Turner set the tone early with the home side taking the momentum and running with it. While the Hoopers were able to bring it to within as many as five down the stretch, star guards Dedric Boyd and Shakwon Barrett hit key buckets to see the Rogues over the line. The Hoopers were led by perennial TBL All-Star and former Rogue Antonio Davis who received a warm welcome from fans. This game also saw former Memorial Seahawks star Norm Burry put 11 points in his Newfoundland Rogues debut.

The Rogues will look to turn a two-game heater into a three-game heater tomorrow afternoon when these two teams meet again.
