St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland Rogues fell to the Tundra 124-105 at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Saturday night. The Rogues slid to 0-2 to start the year after back-to-back defeats in their season-opening series against a very tough Tundra squad.
After getting out to a hot start and leading heading into the 2nd quarter, the Rogues took their foot off the gas slightly and allowed the Tundra to step into another gear to which they never looked back. Returning Rogues star Dedric Boyd (G) led all scorers for the second consecutive night with 25 points. It was another well-rounded team effort for the Tundra who were led in scoring by Jeremy Hayes’ 19 points. Tundra coach Dante Calabria will be happy with his side’s road trip results while new Rogues bench boss Doug Partridge will have to head back to the drawing board before the Rogues return to the court.
The Rogues have less than a week to prepare for another tough challenge; a two-game home stand against reigning BSL champions the Sudbury Five. Series tips off at 7PM, Friday, February 13th at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
